WAVY: Budget cut sequester act passes

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The US House of Representatives passed an act that would require the president to submit a detailed plan to Congress, how and where budget cuts would affect the military.
The House voted 414-2 in favor of the Sequestration Transparency Act Wednesday which would mandate the president to detail in the next 30 days how another $500 billion will be slashed from the defense budget. This comes in addition to almost half a trillion dollars in cuts already agreed on by Congress and the Department of Defense.
"Sequestration will cause a 10 percent slice, right across the board of training, of flying hours, of fuel," retired Vice Admiral Hank Giffin said. "To use the military and the readiness of the military in this manner, I think it's just not right."
Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell called for a bipartisan joint delegation meeting on sequestration. A scheduled press conference after the meeting was canceled.
