No Labels Gives Problem-Solvers Seal to Scott Rigell
No Labels Commends Virginia Lawmaker’s Commitment to Problem Solving
Oct 11, 2012 -
This week No Labels gave its official Problem-Solvers Seal of Approval to Rep. Scott Rigell of Virginia’s 2nd district. The Problem-Solvers Seal is awarded to candidates or legislators who agree to join No Labels’ emerging “Problem-Solvers Bloc,” a group of lawmakers who are dedicated to working across the aisle to find effective, principled and pragmatic solutions to our country’s problems. Rigell has committed to join the bloc.
“With the broken system that governs Congress today, we need more leaders like Rigell who believe that working across party lines to get things done is the best way to truly find long-term solutions to our problems,” said No Labels Co-Founder Mark McKinnon. “Throughout his first term in Congress, Rigell has consistently shown a willingness to find common ground with members of the opposite party. He will certainly be a welcome addition to No Labels’ Problem-Solvers Bloc."
The Problem-Solvers Bloc represents No Labels' effort to jumpstart constructive debate in Congress around America's most pressing issues. In today’s Washington, Republicans and Democrats rarely meet with one another to discuss issues. With No Labels’ new bloc, members will have a banner to gather under to develop real solutions. No Labels began constructing this bloc in mid-2012 and has already had tremendous success recruiting current and prospective members of Congress to join.
“Rigell's crucial efforts on important legislation like the No Budget, No Pay Act have shown his dedication to getting Congress working again so it can truly tackle the challenges facing our country,” said No Labels Co-Founder Bill Galston. “He has earned the Problem-Solvers Seal of Approval from No Labels for his efforts and for his attitude, an attitude that emphasizes solving our nation's problems rather than scoring political points.”
No Labels is a grassroots movement of Democrats, Republicans and independents dedicated to the politics of problem solving.
